At the end of the process, these inspectors give the vehicle a condition grade based on factors such as age, mileage, flaws, accident history, and aftermarket additions.

S - Vehicle has been registered for fewer than 12 months and has fewer than 10,000 kilometers on the odometer. Indistinguishable from brand new. Both the interior and exterior are spotless.

6- Vehicle has been registered for fewer than 36 months and has fewer than 30,000 kilometers on the odometer. Basically, it's a very late model, new car.

5- The vehicle has fewer than fifty thousand kilometers on it, which is a good sign. There could be a few tiny dings and scratches on the exterior. This is the highest possible condition rating, and the unit will have only the tiniest flaws.

4.5- The vehicle has fewer than 100,000 kilometers on the odometer. Another unquestionably excellent rating. Minor blemishes in the paint and/or bodywork are possible, but the car will not require extensive work. Used cars with a grade of 6.5 or higher and a grade of 4.5 or higher command premiums in the upper 10% of the used car market.

4- The vehicle has traveled fewer than 150,000 kilometers total since it was manufactured. It is possible that the surface has blemishes like scratches, scrapes, and dents from normal use. The state of the vehicle is significantly improved from how it is typically kept. There is no record of a crash. Interior wear and tear could include holes, cigarette burns, and stains. Before they can be utilized, they need to have a few modifications performed on them. The auction sheet contains a more comprehensive amount of information.

A car with a 4-star rating is a safe bet and the most sought-after when shipping overseas. The price range will be in the top 30% of the possible range. 

3.5 - The exterior has a few significant dings and/or dents in various locations. The overall condition is fair. They could use a little panel beating and/or a fresh coat of paint.

There could be numerous holes, cigarette burns, and stains inside. It will be necessary to fix them. The auction sheet will provide additional information. When considering the car's age and mileage, it is in about average condition.

3- There are numerous, large dents, paint blemishes, and/or scratches all over the exterior. They are going to need a significant amount of panel beating work and/or painting.

There are numerous holes, burns from cigarettes, and stains inside. They need a lot of work done on them, and probably some replacements on the inside as well.

2- The car is in terrible shape, which usually means there are rust holes in it. 

1- The motor vehicle that is equipped with each of the following features, or with at least one of them:

  1. A turbo that is aftermarket.
    2. A manual transmission with an automatic transmission.
    3. Damage from floods
    4. Damage to the fire extinguisher 

RA- The vehicle that was in an accident but only sustained minor damage and was repaired is denoted by the letter RA.

R - The vehicle was in an accident but has been fixed. A vehicle with accident damage, as defined by the auctioneer, is one with damage to the following areas and/or components that have been repaired or replaced: 

  1. A lower bar or frame for tying 
  2. Windscreen Support Post (A Pillar) 
  3. Central Supporting Strut  (or B) 
  4. Rear Support (C-Pillar) 
  5. Housing with Struts 
  6. Roof Panel
  7. Trunk flooring Panel 
  8. Floor Pan. 

These automobiles might be affordably priced, and the service might be excellent. You may purchase the vehicle if it makes it through the thorough inspection at the car auction. It is a good thing when repairs go unnoticed. 

One or more of the following are indicated by a blank grade - any of these marks:

  1. The auction house has not examined the vehicle.

A car may receive a R grade simply because it has modifications, according to auction agent websites, as was previously mentioned. The importers I have interacted with and worked with, however, assert that this is categorically untrue. A vehicle with a R grade has a history of accidents that have been officially reported.

The report will probably also include an exterior and interior grade.  What those generally imply is as follows:

Interior Grade:

A - Condition of a new vehicle.
B - It looks like the car's interior has been maintained and is in good shape.
C - The car's interior contained small food stains and cigarette holes.
D - A cigarette's mark, stains, tears, or odor are present inside the vehicle.
E - The automobile's interior is in poor shape. Everything described above and worse is considered a grade E.


Exterior Grade:


A - Excellent external appearance.
B - A few minor dings up to 15 cm could be seen.
C - There may be dents or scratches up to 30 cm in length.
D - There are apparent rust, corrosion, or scratches.
E - The car is in poor condition. There is a lot of rust, corrosion, and exterior failures.

Typically, an image of a car with inspector markings can be found in the inspection report that you can view through the car's pictures. To note rust damage to newly installed panels, this is there. These typically include a helpful breakdown as well.

The inspector will make notes regarding the car and incorporate them in the report. Everything from whether or not the stereo is functional to the sound of the ball joints knocking will be addressed in these remarks.

Please be mindful of these inspections' limits, though. Not even they get behind the wheel of those vehicles.

These inspections are fairly thorough, but occasionally mistakes are made by the inspectors, and it can be difficult to convey how bad something is in writing.
